    Teams / Sparing

Explanation:We originally implemented the one team per division limit in order to ensure as many people get to play as possible during playoff time - we all pay for the ice time.

While we are still supportive of this principle, which is why the spare limit rule is still in place, we do want teams to be able to play with their original teammates in the playoffs. Note: accommodations will not be made if your teams are scheduled to play at the same time.

    Sparing

    Qualification

There are four playoff brackets teams can participate in:

Club Championship: All teams from the Draw 5 A Division from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Open and the top overall remaining team from evening open leagues.

Open: All remaining teams from Draw 5 B Division from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Open and the top overall remaining teams from evening open leagues to complete the bracket.

Rec Championship: All remaining teams from Draw 5 C Division from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Open, the top 3 teams from Tuesday social league, and the top overall remaining teams to complete the bracket.

Rec Open: All remaining Draw 5 Division D teams and Tuesday Social teams.

If a team withdraws from the A or B division playoffs, the next team with the most overall points from any evening league will be invited to play. If a team withdraws from the C and D divisions, the coordinators may move teams between divisions in order to ensure fairness and maximum participation within the club.

Note: Because of the changes to the player eligibility rules this year, we will no longer accommodate requests to go up or down divisions.

    Format

For all other divisions, all games are up to 8 ends. The bell rule remains in effect for these games.

    LEAGUE SETUP
There are 2 - 3 Draws per year. An online survey is sent by email before each Draw for Members to submit their preferred time
and position of play. The Match Committee uses this information along with Ratings to randomly select Teams for that particular Draw. All players are rated for a position: Skip, Vice, Second, Lead. New Day Ladies members are rated as Lead for their first season and may be reassigned at the end of the season. Ratings reassignments are decided at a meeting of the Skips held once a year.

Games must be played as scheduled or they are defaulted unless a rescheduled game is agreed upon by both skips. One original member of the team must be present or the game is defaulted. If a team has only 2 players present, they must default the win. However, players may be shared from another team to allow for play to continue.

Points for the games will be awarded as follows:
    - Win - 10 points
    - Tie - 5 points
    - Loss - 0 points
All Forfeits = 0 Please report all FORFEITS to the league rep.
Skips/Vices are responsible for recording the win/loss/tie on the CVCC website following conclusion of the game.

    5th/6th NAMED TEAM MEMBER
As there are not fixed teams, this league does not have 5th/6th team members.

    SPARING
Every female who has already registered for a league or joined as a "Spare Member" can spare in this league.
Players find their own spares and notify their skip of their replacement.
Spares will assume the Lead position unless the other team members are unable/unwilling to move up positions after being asked by the team. In this case, the Skip then decides on Spare’s position
Teams looking for a spare should refer to teams with byes and the spares list at https://cityviewcurling.ca/index.php/member-s-home/league-information/sub-lists

    BELL RULE
The bell signals to finish the end you are in! No extra ends or tie breakers.

An end is deemed to have started once the first rock of the end has crossed the near tee line during a slide.
The bell in the 9:00am draw will go off at 10:45am. The bell in the 1:20pm will go off at 3:05pm.

    VOLUNTEERS
The Day Ladies League is run by Volunteers and Committees and Events require Volunteer participation to allow play and events to run smoothly. All Members are asked to offer their unique skills in volunteer participation sometime during the year.

The Day Men’s League provides a recreational draw league for men wishing to maintain a level of fitness or to refine their curling skills in an enjoyable, low intensity atmosphere. Members will have opportunities to curl at 9:00am on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. During the season, teams are set weekly based upon who signs up to curl that week and on what day and time. Members are also eligible to participate in a spring bonspiel sponsored jointly with the Day Ladies League. Christmas and end of season games and lunches add to the congeniality of the league.

As members of the Club, participants remain eligible to spare in other leagues and participate in Club sponsored events on and off the ice.
